What do I gain from participating in Learn2Thrive?

By the end of the Learn2Thrive program, you will be able to:
  1. Define Thriving and explain the importance of physical and emotional health on your personal wellness
  2. Apply learning strategies that can be tailored to individual strengths and qualities, to help students achieve their goals
  3. Build a peer-based and campus support community to assist students in overcoming challenges and achieving personal and academic success
  4. Value thriving as an ongoing process in developing mindful practices as a student and lifelong learner

What should I expect to do each week in Learn2Thrive?

Each week, we focus our discussion and skill development on one thriving skill and one learning skill. Those skills change week to week. In addition, we do reflection activities, mindful movement, and meditation.

How is the program delivered?

Learn2Thrive will be offered through a hybrid model of delivery. Content delivery of the weekly thriving and learning skills will be offered in an asynchronous format on OWL Brightspace. Each week we will also offer an in-person group session where the emphasis will be on answering questions about Learn2Thrive content, engaging in discussion and activities related to the topics of the week, and developing community.

What topics will be covered in the program?

Over the six week program, we will explore the following topics to help you build new habits, leading from your strengths, and how to focus on healthy living.

Building traits like:

  • grit and resilience
  • optimism
  • gratitude
  • finding flow
  • self-compassion
  • habit formation

Skills & strategies like:

  • time management
  • note-taking
  • studying
  • staying motivated
  • test-taking

When is the program offered?

Learn2Thrive will start on October 1, 2025 and will run for six consecutive weeks with the exception of a 1-week break for Fall Reading Week

Who is eligible to participate in the program?

Any undergraduate student who has completed at least one term of post-secondary studies is eligible to participate. Registrants must be able to participate in all 6 weeks of the program. The program will run twice a year (once each term in fall and winter, so you can join this program when it’s right for you)

What is the level of commitment to participate in the program?

You should aim to commit 2 hours per week for six weeks - 1-hour watching content videos done at a time of your choice, and the choice of 1 hour participating in the live drop-in or completing online reflections. On occassion, we may ask you to complete some activities between sessions, but these will require minimal time commitment (i.e. 30 minutes or less).

What if I can’t attend all 6 sessions?

The online lessons and content can be done anytime (asynchronously) through OWL Brightspace, so “attending” Learn2Thrive is flexible. The content will be released early each week, hoping students can set aside some time that same week to engage with the content. Learn2Thrive In Person, a time to get together in person each week and it is scheduled once per week. The In Person component is optional but encouraged for students wishing to meet other students to build a community. Students wishing to have Learn2Thrive recorded on their Co-Curricular Record can get credit in one of two ways:

  • Attend 4/6 Learn2Thrive In-Person Sessions OR
  • Submit 4/6 Learn2Thrive Reflection Questions in OWL Brightspace
